I know it fits into our worldview to believe this at face value, but i would kindly ask for a citation.

If it’s an improvement, it’s worth doing.

I can’t control what the 100 corporations do, but I can control what I do. I choose to make as much of a difference as I can.

This reasoning is dumb at best and pro-consumerist at worst.

Companies aren’t producing emissions in isolation for shits and giggles or because they’ve got a magic machine that creates money + emissions. They’re producing them in the act of creating stuff that you buy.

Memes like this promote the idea that you can keep living it large whilst blaming The Corporations for providing what you’re paying for; and by extension giving you permission to keep buying from them.

Corporations lobby and manipulate to get the system where they can do so. To pretend it’s anything but the will of a few is naive.

Both, its both. Shitty consumers with gas guzzlers that throw away their consumer electronics every year and use single use plastics on one side and shitty corporations that buy corrupt officials to make sure that there are no alternatives to a wastefull lifestyle on the other side.

Electric cars aren’t any sort of real solution. The real solution is massive investment in public transit.

Electric cars are a scam to keep capitalism running a bit longer. Let it crash. Buy second hand cars only.

They’re heavier and had more non-tailpipe emissions, so they kill salmon with tire dust, which is a concern if you live near wild salmon.

You can get second hand electric cars. They are more reliable. There are fewer things to break and maintain. They are cheaper. If you have off street parking and can charge at home, there little reason to buy gas anymore.

If you don’t drive often, a gas powered car is better for the climate than an electric one.

Sources vary wildly, on what that tipping point is. I’ve found numbers from 20 000 to 90 000 lifetime km in just one article

Companies aren’t out there polluting for the fun of it (though yes we need regulation). They are producing stuff we consume.

Yes because we all need 50 different varieties of plain chips on the supermarket shelf because since birth they have subjected us to some of the most intense propaganda to make us think brand A is better than Brand X, and we all need to update our phone because planned obsolescence means it’s designed to break at a certain time.

The system is designed to make it so, don’t blame the victims instead of the perpetrators.

Do you think 2 billion kg of chips from a single brand would be better for the environment than 2 billion kg of chips from 50 different brands?

      Abuser/abusee mentality at play.

Why does the person being abused return to the abuser so often?
