The official release notes are way better than this article https://github.com/immich-app/immich/releases/tag/v2.5.0
yeah they could have put just the link… thank you
Gonna wait to update my podman instance. I’d like immich to have a better mamagement in a multiuser enviroment. I have my wife and kids phones sending photos to it, but I’d like to edit or exclude images from their accounts from mine.
Can you clarify? I have several family members with accounts and we don’t see each others pictures. Are you uploading to a shared album?
What do you mean? My partner and I use the same Immich server, but I don’t see her photos unless they are explicitly shared.
Nice! I’ll update my container and give it a go.
Has anyone pulled it yet? Is it stable? I use the (internet) scream test, if no drama follows the release for a few days, then i proceed with the pull.
I really want to use Immich but I’ve installed it 3 different times and each time an upgrade completely breaks my installation and I spend hours troubleshooting. And yes, I read the patch notes and do whatever changes they mark in bold red as a warning.
It’s amazing when it works and they’re doing a great job at adding features, but my God does it break if you just look at it wrong.
How long ago did you do it?
Now Immich is considered stable, so it shouldn’t have breaking minor updates anymore.
Plus, if you use the docker installation you pretty much don’t have to worry about anything.
Going back through my github issues/comments, it was around May 2024 with the v1.105.0 release was my last attempt.
I’m happy to hear it is stable now, I’ll probably give it a shot again here soon. Again, I loved the app and I was hosting it for friends/family to share photos of my kids, so it helped immensely with everyone collaborating with uploads(though mobile uploads for individual photos wasn’t available at that time, had to direct people to use the website…).
To be fair I don’t think I used the docker installation back then, so I’ll probably make a stack for it this time around.
With their 2.0 version they announced it as stable release. https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/22546
I never used immich before then, but all updates I’ve done since starting (with docker) has worked flawlessly.
In my case, the only thing that ever broke in my home server was homarr lol
I updated my image yesterday and haven’t run into any issues. I also haven’t tried the web backups yet. Soooo 🤷
Haven’t tried 2.5 yet but the prior version was still unable to reliably backup videos from iOS
Just checked, there is an issue with the companion app on playstore, they have delayed the android app update due to an issue, so wait until play store shows the update and then do both (server and mobile app)
v2.5.2 is planned to release today, they pulled v2.5.0 android apk since there was a bug with it. So I’d suggest waiting for the release today at least.
And some basic image editing! At last
Halleluia!

Where do you think we are right now?
There is a post about the 2.5 release posted 6h before this OP. People upvote both. Fine my me. More exposure = more donations I hope
Just purchased a server license (for life). Not only is this update jam packed full of nice features, but a lot of their updates are. I’ve been self-hosting it (on a VPS) for the past year and it’s about time I supported them
Yesss I’ve been wanting the clean up space feature ever since I left Google Photos. I need to remember to donate next time I get paid.
How simple is this program to use, I am moving to linux and while novie just want to start using my pc for pc things like storing my pictures.
If you are talking about using Linux on a desktop, then use DigiKam for photo management. It is far more advanced, because it is a desktop application and been around a lot longer.
You could have a workflow of a desktop environment AND immich on the server for the best of what they both offer.
This release also brings you […] a new font face (“The-name-must-not-be-named” Sans) that improves reading legibility, especially for numbers and smaller text
What’s the story about that font name? I’m out of the loop.
It’s a running meme on their website. They don’t want to name Google, so they call it that way.
So the font must be Google Sans.
I guess it’s just google sans, they use this placeholder elsewhere too
This is tough because I’m really enjoying NextCloud Memories…but I like a lot of features Immich has, and it’s only getting better! But so is Memories…
I’m just glad there’s so many “Get lost and lose my number, Google” options. <3
These madlads are making better free software than anyone is making for $ these days.
