No shit. I’ve been saying this for decades. It’s a big reason why I stopped playing video games.
The addiction and obsession are insane. Doubtless I’m going to get down-voted for even pointing it out, but it’s on the same level as social media or heroin addiction.
I do still play games, but they’re TTRPG. No, I can’t just do it any time I want, sadly. But when I do play, it’s with friends, I’m engaged, we’re face to face, and we all participate fully - all without micro-transactions or a subscription. We all long to play again, badly, but we just hold on until the next meet-up.
Well. Unless it’s Warhammer. Then it’s ALL micro transactions lol.

It’s very easy to play video games that don’t have these things. Plenty of indie and retro games out there. Not everything is call of duty and fifa.
