Yeah, a lot of people from non-white backgrounds are voting Reform. They think being born here equates them to being at level with WASPs, and my 18-year old cousin is gleefully telling me how he’d like to send all the migrants back on boats whilst apparently thinking that he will be spared during such a purge.
I’m picking on him because he’s young, but he’s just voicing the “close the door” narrative that his uncles and grandparents are telling him as they’ve struggled to get jobs due to competing labour.
They’re just not seeing that the “close the door behind me” narrative is actually code for “flush out non-whites”
Agreed, I’ve also seen and heard a lot of this attitude, going back decades now.
In addition, I think that Islamophobia is very widespread in the UK, including among ethnic minority groups. Both white and non-white Islamophobes see anti-immigrant polices as partly or primarily a way to persecute Muslims and prevent more of them coming to the UK.
