So much of “polite society” is just jerking off your neighbors. People do so much just to make sure others around us see us as part of the system. I’ve always hated the idea of a lawn. Why do I have to maintain literal fucking dirt? It’s my property. Get over yourselves.

“Maintain” involves spraying toxic herbicides and insecticides on it. So you can’t even walk barefoot on your lush looking lawn without getting poisoned a bit, you can’t let your kids play in it, and you can’t let pets run through it.

Many do anyway, and are treated to doses of endocrine disruptors and carcinogens and neurotoxins, all for something that looks like an all green lawn with no other plants cut short, but that serves no purpose whatsoever.

When I got my property, I quit mowing, I mowed part of the area twice so far. I’ve got other edible plants growing in parts, and it’s all trees around and leaf litter that I also don’t rake, so it’s quite comfortable to walk around barefoot, or lay down anywhere on the ground with no fear of chemicals.
