You can find it (lastest stable) on Flatpak package, and also in debs for Debian and Ubuntu.
It was once known as TORCS, and several distributions had it available.
It’s quite complex to build now (physics engines, AI, etc), so I suppose many distros don’t package it.
Appimage should work fine. Just give it executable permission.
Speed Dreams is a TORCS fork, and started on its own way on 2008 . You can find it (lastest stable) on Flatpak package, and also in debs for Debian and Ubuntu.
