Maybe if you used the metric system you wouldn’t be in an argument in the first place, avoiding this whole situation.

Z stands for Zulu timezone, also known as UTC. It can be another zone as well, as long as it’s noted. This way anyone can calculate it to their own time zone. The Zulu is a military notation, but it’s simple imo. Alfa is UTC+1, Yankee is UTC-1 etc. But UTC also works. I just hate naming timezones because then you need to look up what name is how much away from you. Just use the simple military letters or international UTC.

Here you can see all the zone namings including the military one.

As you can see, PYT for example can be Pyongyang time UTC+8:30 or Paraguay time UTC-3. It’s such a mess. The only notation which is clear to all is UTC and the military notation is just shorter.

Looks like gag-reflex girlfriend. Hang on, let me look for something with her in it…

Edit: found it. They look similar. Can’t post it here, the only source I found was a Facebook reel and I don’t want to get downvoted to shit for posting FB stuff.

Use your superior education that you got in your non-US country and do the math. Yeah the units are stupid and Americans are uneducated. But we can at least do the conversions.

I’ve gone on this tirade plenty of times, but inches aren’t stupid. 12 inches to a foot makes a lot of sense for problems we’ve had to solve for millennia, because it’s 3 times a power of two. For things like woodoworking it actually makes more sense than the metric system.

“But 10 deciliters in a liter” Using a tape measure, mark out 1/3rd of the thickness of a standard 19mm sheet of plywood. I’ll be over here doing the same with 3/4" plywood by marking at 1/4".

Maybe we shouldn’t be selling Europe any weapons that work.

I honestly wish we used metric in the US.

What always cracks me up, are people not from the US who whine about our units, and demand that they be translated into their comfort units, which doesn’t make them look smart, it makes them look like they can’t do math as well as a teenager in the US.

I use metric all the time in the US. My 3D printer runs in millimeters and Celsius, I buy Pepsi by the liter, I dose every medicine by the gram, I meter electricity by the kilowatt and my lights are rated in lumens.

What I don’t do is this weird sense of superiority found in cultivated ignorance the Europeans seem so fond of on the subject.

You know, I have always used feet to measure height, but somehow seeing the difference in meters is significantly more eye opening as to just how insanely different those heights are.

Edit: Although I think you might have meant 1.57 for 5’2" 😅

Why do men date women that’s like height of a children to them?

EDIT: I know reddit banned Jailbait, but can you people move to 4chan and not Lemmy? Fuck anyone who prefers Lolitas, Jailbait, underage looking, petite, child-height or midget if you’re normal height, etc., it’s fucking creepy and you know it. You also know I’m not talking about simply “shorter”, but those cases where it really starts to look off

EDIT2 Why do you people keep talking about men dating shorter women? I’m talking about extreme differences not common ones - whole another level, my GF is 20cm shorter too, that is perfectly normal. Why is it so hard for many to understand what “children-height to them” means?

I doubt a large percentage of men are having problems finding a woman that’s not such a drastic height difference. I never said shorter, I’m talking about the difference being so big it starts to seriously look off. That’s also not very common, quite rare actually, but you know the few men I’m talking about.

EDIT: This reminds me of a rather popular word where I live called lolita

Right, because “height of a children” means children. I quite clearly meant it in relativity.

Do you know what relativity means? You keep saying it

          A 6 or 7 year old child is ~120cm

          Average person 160cm to 170cm

          Relatively, a 3:4 ratio

For a tall person at 200cm (6’6") that would be the same as 150cm

          Average woman is 160cm

Yes a 200cm person standing next to a 150cm person looks like an adult standing next to a child height wise. Yet to them a 150cm person is much taller than 120cm. 1 foot difference.

Why does your mind jump to “they look like they are with a child?”

Also to the tall person that isn’t the ratio of height of a child. They’ve most likely been that height since they were a teenager and think of the height of a child as the height that children are. Sure it may be waist height instead of chest height, but that’s how tall kids are to them. It’s not like you’re 25 and have been dating around for a while and suddenly grew 6 inches and are uncomfortable because women in your dating pool are suddenly a proportional height you associate with children.

This is also amusing to me as a tall woman who prefers older women and keeps getting short ones.

… Women generally, statistically, indicate an ideal preference to date men who are ~21cm / ~8 inches taller than themself.

      https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0191886913000020

Women prefer, on average, a larger height difference between themselves and their partner (i.e. males being much taller than themselves) than men do. This effect is even more pronounced when examining satisfaction with actual partner height: women are most satisfied when their partner was 21 cm taller, whereas men are most satisfied when they were 8 cm taller than their partner.

So a roughly average height 5’4" (~1.62m) woman, on average, would ideally pick a 6’ (~1.83m) tall man, all else held equal.

By the same kinds of math, on average, men prefer to be ~8cm / ~3 inches taller than their ideal height female partner.

So a roughly average height man of 5’10" (~1.78m) would ideally prefer their gal to be 5’7" (~1.70m)

So I don’t know, you tell me why generally speaking, women ideally prefer their men to be ~8 inches taller than themself, but men ideally prefer being only ~3 inches taller than their women.

My point is you got the causation backwards.

Women generally have a stronger preference for taller men, than men have a preference for shorter women.

But you framed the entire scenario as being caused by men.

Why do men date women that’s like height of a children to them?

Its… also amazing that you yourself date someone 20cm shorter than you.

So, what, if you yourself were 5cm shorter than you are, and your partner was 5cm shorter than she is… would that be such a difference that the woman would now be ‘child sized’?

Short people do just exist, the image is an intentional joke making fun of height difference that is present in this consensual relationship.

You describe this as jailbait despite the woman looking like she’s in her upper 20s or lower 30s in age.

Like, not to be rude to the woman in the picture, but how many under 21 or under 18 girls… have forehead wrinkles, bags under their eyes?

Translation for this person because they’ve rightfully been misunderstood: Why does it seem like there is a disproportionate amount of tall men ending up in relationships with short women? This seems to be a statistical aberration when compared against other factors.

The answer is societal expectations of tall men/short women, kinks, standard height deviations among genders.

That’s stupid then, no offense. The height of children ranges greatly just like the height of adults, there’s considerable overlap.

          It isn’t something clearly defined.

I don’t need a definition of a children’s height to have average image of their height and feel disgust when I see grown ass man or tall dude with one that next to him makes me wonder if that’s their child or wife

Literally how is this stupid? It’s how I feel. It’s my feelings, which are objective to me that are not imaginary and I cannot ignore. I believe there is clear logic behind it and rest is a matter of personal opinion or your own “feel” towards the matter, but is it really stupid?

First of all, “midget” is a slur that shouldn’t be used to describe people with dwarfism and second of all, are you saying that it’s creepy for grown adults to be in a relationship just because one of them has a genetic mutation or happens to be really short? Are little people only supposed to date other little people or is there some magic number where you just become creepy?
