In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, they did a crazy foreshadow this episode that was anime-original. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this either. It really makes me wish the manga wasn’t on indefinite hiatus because the closer the anime gets to the manga, the less opportunity they will have to drop some awesome foreshadowing in.
The aforementioned foreshadowing
This demon that studies humans was foreshadowing Solitar. Probably my favorite demon in all of Frieren.
wish the manga wasn’t on indefinite hiatus
Didn’t the mangaka do this with season 1 too though? I’m guessing they’re pretty involved.
They’ve also had many indefinite hiatuses so far though, none of them lasting very long. I’m not too worried
They really nailed the atmosphere. The forest seemed so dangerous. I can just imagine how bad it would be to walk there with no knowledge of magic. Fog? Is it something made by the demon? Or maybe just natural phenomenon?
Genau is so real! Why would you even talk to something like that. Literally no point in that.
Methode is wilder than I thought!

Done!

Kind of undermined by the fact that he said it to the demon though.
I think he did it for Stark.
Genau does have a point.
The only reason that demons speak to humans is to get an advantage: To deceive, distract, whatever it takes to kill their prey.
It’s better to stay focused on battle, and not get distracted trying to have a fundamentally meaningless conversation.
So Revolte waited until the group split up just to… split up themselves? What was the point of this? The scenario seems constructed to me but I’ll wait until the fight is over before I make my final judgement.
That aside, does anyone else find Genau strangely relatable? He keeps telling himself that he doesn’t actually care but that seems like a defense mechanism and it’s actually crushing him slowly. Luckily, Stark seems like the perfect bro to pull him out of that hole somehow. Fingers crossed.
Genau is basically what a stoic tsundere looks like. On the outside he stays cool as a cucumber, but he is aware enough to know that he has had to do some messed up shit and doesn’t want others to get their hands dirty like he has. He keeps saying how unaffected he is by his home village being destroyed, but he was certainly compassionate in dealing with his friend’s final moments, and cares a lot about their bodies being protected.
Very good action animation scenes. I’m missing some lore. There is so much to this world they are not telling us
Good episode. Looks like we’re fully back to the “main plot” or at least a new arc of the story. Loved the sound design in this episode.
