Senate Democrats on Thursday defeated a motion to proceed to a House-passed bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security and end the 27-day shutdown that has hampered the functions of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other critical agencies.

excellent

The motion failed by a vote of 51 to 46. Centrist Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.) was the only Democrat to vote with Republicans to advance the funding bill. It needed 60 votes to advance.

centrist my fucking asshole.

A concept of a spine. Last year they held the line right up until it might have made a difference, remember.

Fetterman wasn’t always like this. He got captured somewhere along the line. He has turned into a real piece of garbage with the faux-centrist BS.

What? Democrats doing their jobs? They must be worried about the voters.

Good, turn up the heat on BOTH sides. It’s not about Dems or MAGAs, it’s about US!

Let’s not hope. Let’s do actionable things to make it happen. You’ve got roughly a year and a half to support potential new candidates as well as the grassroots organizations that help inspire and support upcoming candidates. Hoping will not do a damn bit of good.

Try to keep this in mind: If Fetterman had lost, Dr Oz would be in the Senate.

But yeah, primary the shit out of him.

True but that’s because Fetterman was the Democratic candidate. By primrying him, you (hopefully) get a better Democratic option to go up against whatever filth the Republicans put forward.

“Democrats just want ICE to behave like any police department in America”

If democrats now want other police departments to curse to exist that would be great…alas democrats are never as cool as republicans say they are.

Unfortunately we’ve lumped a bunch of agencies under DHS, notably FEMA, but also some other things like cybersecurity, customs, and WMD mitigation agencies. So, while I would love for ICE, and a bunch of other fascist-ass agencies to be deleted, thia particular route to doing that also shuts down some agencies that are undeniably important.

Democrats voted against the Homeland Security appropriations bill because it includes funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), two agencies they say need reforms after immigration agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis.

Fuckin assholes. They don’t need reform. They need to be abolished
