Unfortunately from what I’ve learned of the US relation to fascism before during and after WW2 I have to say I’m not shocked.

There are also fasces on the fronts of the armrests on the Lincoln memorial statue.
Didn’t know that.
Used by Mussolini in 1919, just before completion of the statue.
