Ah yes, the thingamajig in plain view.
I believe some of that is called an “engine”
Some might. I call it the vroom vroom machine.
That would be the technical term, yes.
I know what some of those are, they’re tubes!
I love that they have clearly put 3 temperature stickers on the exhaust/turbo(?) housing, like on the pressure vessel above, but they have burnt off. Guess that means the temp was higher than expected.
The Cadillac did have some weird/interesting bodywork.
https://youtu.be/nlaP_8ueFGg?t=857 Guess it was a little too unconventional.
I’m a diesel mechanic and I would hate to have time work on this
I own a Saab 9-3. It was cobbled together from random various GM parts in a last ditch, unsuscessful, attempt for to make a profitable car. This looks like my cars engine bay.
Fascinating - thanks for posting!
Did General Motors design this car/engine, or just put the Cadillac name on it? F1 seems to be way out of GM’s reach to me… I haven’t followed it in a long time tho.
This is a Ferrari engine - they are starting out buying them from Ferrari while designing their own. Currently expecting to switch in 2029. It’s quite normal for even top F1 teams to buy engines from others, BTW (last year’s winners, McLaren, have been purchasing Mercedes engines for years).
The car is their own design - I think that’s required for all teams.
