One guy I use to work with would purchase 2 sets. One for his kid and the other for storage for when the kit is no longer sold and that happens.
Mr moneybags
“Free local pickup”
Like … Opposed to paid local pickup?
As opposed to paid shipping. They could have just said “local pickup avilable”, but “free” sounds neat.
It’s a gated community - you have to bribe the guard to be let in to do the PU.
This is actually very the reason this is expensive though. All those children grew up and wanted the things from their childhood that are no longer made, so demand is high, price increase.
I though most all the set manuals are available online. Just scrape together the spare pieces or get them individually. Bet you it’ll be a lot cheaper than that.
Heh I recently looked up Robotech figures thinking like Gundam gunpla type models, ended up seeing the old toys, damn I wish I could have bought more back then. Course not nearly the mark up for Lego.
I try not to look up all the random figures I used to own, Optimus Prime, Starfire transformers, so many gi joe ugh the amount that probably went to the landfill. Heck I used to have fun with this cobra plane (like an A10 I think), has one wing broken but I played with that thing so much.
I kept trying to fix the grammar but Lemmy connect keeps trying to highlight from the end of the text whenever I click somewhere…till now it seems but here now.
I disappear down the toy nostalgia rabbit hole every couple months. It’s insane how much simple plastic costs.
Lego should use a Kickstarter-like model for out of print sets. Give people a chance to pre-order, and when they hit enough orders to make it with it, manufacturer and send out the sets.
edit: looks like I forgot how to language—leaving it how it is—y’all get the point
