We all know there’s a sort of MAGA-North up here that he can ingratiate himself with, and he might want to use any tenuous association he builds with them (as a Canadian citizen) to weaken the allegations he’s an “African” as highlighted by MAGA-ites angry over the visa thing). This also fits together with Trump’s Canada annexation rhetoric.
