When I came out to my mom she got me being trans but me being bi was the part that really got her confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

nah, oddly enough biphobia exists even within the LGBTQ community, it’s baffling.

        in order of difficulty:

        being cis and straight

        being gay

        being bi

        being trans

Biased a bit, but I’d say that in relatively LGBT friendly places, bi can almost be more difficult than gay at this point. I’ve got family members who can be quite bigoted at times, who have now become totally fine with the various gay people they know, but have openly stated multiple times that bi people are just closeted/experimenting/deviant/etc.

Likewise, I have a couple of LGBT friends that legitimately get upset at bi people in hetero relationships, because they’re “straight passing”. It’s utterly ridiculous, but definitely a trend I’ve noticed over time.

Coming out to my Mom as a transmasc non-binary person was kind of hilarious.

Mum : So you are kind of a gay man then?

      Me : I… Guess so?

Mum : So your Husband (who has a solid female phenotype preference)… Is also gay?

Me : Uh… He’s kind of queer by association yeah. Like my LGBTQIA+ 1.

Mum : Oh! That’s what the plus is for!

      Me :… Yes.

“So mom, let me explain to you the difference between gender and sexual orientation.” I had this talk in a bar a long time ago and boy, a lot of people need this explained!

Hormones made me gayer, this managed to confuse most people I’ve told (I had sparing and mild attraction to men before, none after, but the difference was enough for me to notice after losing it that I’d had it)

    Girls are the best <3

Still haven’t quite figured myself out yet, and I don’t see myself turning away from girls post-transition, but… maybe bi? I kind of get all blushy thinking about it though.
