Hi im looking for a european alternative for my browser. I understand that basically all browser are either chromium or Firefox based. I heard mozilla is also going through their own enshittificafion so im looking for a european alternatieve
I would probably still prefer a Firefox based browser over a chromium based one, because … you know… Google.
Ive find librewolf to be the only real alternative but also heard good things about Zen Browser. But for The life of me, I cannot find where ‘The zen browser team’ Company is based or operaties from.
Does any one know this? Any other tips or suggestions are also welcome.
My personal preference is Librewolf. Not sure about Zen, hopefully someone else will jump in
Thanks, ill start testing in out!
Seconded for Librewolf
Have a look at Mullvad browser made by a Swedish company.
Waterfox is one option. its UK based. I find it a little faster than librefox out of the. I use the container tabs extensively for my IT work juggling dozens of customer login details and profiles.
I haven’t been able to confirm precisely, but the Midori browser appears to be from Spain or at least Europe. Their website only comes in English/Español and the only events they have listed as attending have been in Germany. It’s Gecko-based, so it’s “Firefox-ish”. It also takes Firefox add-ins, which is nice.
I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now and it’s been working fine. Spotify hiccups on it, but that’s the only site I go to regularly that doesn’t like it.
Glad to see Midori is still active. I used it for a time 15 years ago and really liked it. Not sure about Astian, but I might have to take a look for myself soon.
i think vivaldi and ecosia browsers are also european
ZenBrowser, LibreWolf, Mullvad Browser
I use Startpage, a dutch alternative. Pretty basic but solid browsing.
at least partially owned by an American advertising company.
Thank you… Will start searching for beter alternative …
Qwant or look for a Europe hosted SearXNG instance
