Why is this being downvoted so much? It doesn’t seem to be referring to ‘generative AI’, but rather algorithmic composition.
(Yet another valid term being ruined by techbros: generative. Like ‘crypto’ meant cryptography before shitcoin techbros ruined that word…)
probably for the exact reason you said; the title makes people think it’s a positive ‘how to’ on Ai music.
i didnt click the link and thought it was about ai music until your comment. im probably not alone in that.
It’s such a shame that only a minority of people who knew about generative music before the rise of “generative AI” can get the real meaning of the title.
I’m still wondering about what should be done in this case. Changing either term would be very cumbersome. Should we add a (non-AI) disclaimer to generative music instead?
i think just switching the word Generative to something else is enough. The issue is tons of ai stuff use generative, generate, generator…
