I go to investigate, and they had managed to plug the HDMI cable of one monitor into the other monitor.
To be generous, maybe they’re familiar with DisplayPort daisy-chaining, which is a thing.
TIL. Nice
You are a saint with that kind of compassionate thinking - well done!
Interesting. Never heard of that. It’d just be a guess, but I’m doubting this was a person familiar with that. Just a humorous oopsy.
You just blew my mind. I didn’t know it’s even possible.
Displayport is pretty versatile. You can get an active DP hub and split DP into more independent screens if your GPU will support the total resolution.
“No, they’re working exactly as intended.”
close ticket
I once had a person refuse to troubleshoot a monitor issue over the phone. 2.5 hours away. Swore to me that they hadn’t messed with the monitor cables since it last worked. They had both ends of the HDMI plugged into the same monitor.
“that will be a $3,000 emergency support call. Will that be cash or check?”
