Everyone talks about Jurassic Bark and Luck of the Fryish…
But what about the ones that hit quietly and never got the love they deserved?

  • Lethal Inspection — Baby Bender. Hermes. That final reveal. Gut punch.
  • Cold Warriors — That father-son silence? Brutal.
  • The Late Philip J. Fry — Time skips and a rose that says “I never stopped trying.”

What’s your sleeper Futurama pain episode?

When Fry has to give the devil’s hands back but Leela still wants to heard the end of his holophone concert.

The one where fry has the worms.

He’s bluffing! No creature would willingly make an idiot out of itself!

Obviously, you’ve never been in love!

Fry giving up literal brain-boosting superworms just to prove Leela could love the real him… That’s one of the rawest character moments in the whole series. Fry doesn’t just grow—he chooses vulnerability. Peak Futurama.

It’s always been my favorite episode. So many great jokes in it but it’s also one of those episodes that boils down to the heart of the story. Pursuit of love will make people do crazy things because it’s really the only thing worth going crazy for.

Same, I fucking laughed and sighed for that whole episode. Haven’t really checked anything from the newer block of seasons for fear the writing wasn’t as good.

I quoted this one in the other thread! A mother who never saw her son again is rough.

Of course, Lars fixed that, but still!

Was she alive after Lars went back to the future? Still possible she never saw him again after that.

He returned to the same day he left, and all those times they showed the past (like in this episode, Game of Tones, and like Luck of the Fryrish) she was still alive so… yes.

That one was like “is she up yet(Lela) oh no it’s still a dream!!”

Oh trust me—we could never forget “The Sting.” That episode had layers of grief, guilt, and love wrapped inside a sci-fi dream. It deserves its own volume. “You were there… and you were there…” Hits different when you realize she never gave up on Fry—even in a coma.

Game of Tones is one of my favorite episodes of the whole show but I don’t think I’d call it underrated. I feel like it’s pretty constantly mentioned when talking about sad episodes.

It doesn’t hit as hard as some of the other ones, but I’ll add “Time Keeps On Slippin’” to the list, and an honorable mention to “Leela’s Homeworld” although one could probably say that got a little heavy-handed.
