Fans had long lost hope that they would ever see a truly faithful adaptation of the author's work – but twenty years ago, a movie was released that did it almost perfectly.

I am unsure if I have seen this one. Going to check it out today.

20 years? Man that makes me feel old. I was very into this movie when it came out, still have the DVD, poster, recreations of the props, etc. The other HP Lovecraft Historical Society stuff is great, especially the Dark Adventure Radio Theater audio dramas.

That’s the silent one by HPLHS, isn’t it?

They did a talkey version of Whisperer in the Dark, and it was pretty damn good. I love their Dark Adventure Radio Theater, too.

H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos is a shared universe far larger and more terrifying than that of humanity, where ancient, malevolent beings known as the Great Old Ones slumber in the depths of space or time. After Lovecraft’s death, the Mythos has been expanded and developed by many authors, including August Derleth, Clark Ashton Smith, and Robert E. Howard. These and many other authors have helped to flesh out the Mythos into a rich and complex Dark Universe.
