Strava’s enshitification continues. It’s basically useless now without an expensive subscription. I mountain bike. All I want is to track my lap time, segment time, and compare against personal records.
I tried MapMyRide today, which pretty much just tracked my lap time. Not ideal.
Are there any decent alternatives?
Thanks in advance.
** Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve got some research to do. Fingers crossed. **
A head unit from Garmin or Wahoo will let you track a lot of data. While it’s an extra expense i think it’s definitely worth it.
@AlternatePersonMan You can try @endurain and @FitTrackee

I use FitoTrack for running and hiking and am very happy with it.
FitoTrack is soo good I love it
Garmin is definitely what I would have recommended until a month ago when they started pulling subscription crap.
They’re still better than Strava though, so if that’s what you’ve been using so far it could be worth it. Polar also introduced subscriptions in the last month. I’m not sure about Wahoo, Hammerhead, or other fitness brands.
I have a Garmin watch. I haven’t ever seen any segments or personal record tracking, but maybe I’m not looking in the right spot?
Records should be here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/personal-records
Segments are much less used on Garmin than Strava, but they also exist, here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/segments
I haven’t used strava but perhaps OpenTracks?
I no longer use it but when I moved away from Sports Tracker the best lightweight alternative I found was Caynax Sports tracker. It’s about as bare bones as it gets but it did everything I needed it to and nothing else.
So, I dropped Strava about 6 months ago, and just use Garmin to check my stuff. But RideWithGPS is probably worth checking out for yourself.
It has access to good metrics, there are some segments but might not quite fill in for your needs though.
They do have a sub, but shouldn’t need it for what you want.
Days late to this thread but another vote for RideWithGPS. I paid ~$50/yr to access the lowest tier of paid features (can’t remember what all is/isn’t included with that but their site should have a breakdown - I feel like I needed it for an organized event I was riding in). I have mine integrated with Strava (free version) so my rides and segments are still tracked there too.
Kamoot is my go to inexpensive one off payments for maps, good plotting for adventures
Let’s see how that turns out, now that they have been bought recently.
