It had lean - conservative profile. I knew from the beginning that we will be under constant attack and surely we were. Folks and moderators from other subreddits (especially one particular but it’s a long story) were surely reporting us non stop and finally they achieved their goal.
So not surprised. I only started it cause I thought that something has changed recently. You know with, anti woke movements, people having enough etc, I thought that the deal they had with AI company would force them to allow more diversified opinions. I was wrong. There are still the same old crazy admins. But it’s their loss tbh. IMO the platform won’t sustain if they keep doing this. They had good run but things might go down financially soon, cosidering how the stock market looks for them. And they really need to have profit, because they were burning money for 20 years. This is calculated to be profitable business for many years to come, but how can it be profitable if it bans so many subreddits.
How lemmy developed inthe last half year? How’s user and engagement growth? From what I see in fedidb stats it doesnt look wonderful.
Yea sorry to hear about all this. I’m wondering if it’s bc AI function on reddit, hasn’t been out that long.
There are conservative subs that are successful on reddit, but I’m wondering if it’s because they’ve been there for a long time and thus, that providing some protections to them. Which, is harder for new subs to achieve. It’s almost impossible unless you avoid politics altogether. Which limits discussions.
In my opinion for lemmy, theres only a handful of users generating content. Recently the dev team was asking for donations and everyone is was, against it bc donations support the .ml instance.
I think lemmy is to Political to gain mainstream success if I’m being honest. Not to be a downer.
Something has to fill up the hole waiting to be filled up. There is a big need for anti-woke reddit-type discussion, in old forums like style, searchable with google, without character limit.
Reddit is being built for 20 years and only now it turned profit. I don’t see how there could suddenly a reddit direct competitor would be born. I don’t know how the future looks like, but I surely love to see the reddit stock market downfall and their user base shrinking.
Yea it’s mostly bots at this point. Have you been keeping up with the new Digg? Their working on the site and an app. More info on the reddit alternatives sub. Seems promising.
I havent, will check thx
Anytime np !
daaaaaayyumnn
Mine was moderate left with a few constructive far left conversations…got permanently banned. F*ck reddit.
