Drive throughs absolutely need ways for people to leave, though I’m not sure if there are many great ways one can be implemented without increasing the (already quite large) concrete/asphalt footprints of suburban fast food buildings. I see a lot of concrete curb islands that only seem to serve the purpose of locking people into the wait, and those would be a great place to start.
I mean I feel for these people. But honestly, how often do people get shot specifically at the drive thru?
Their energy could be better directed towards the root of the issue: gun control or mental health.
The escape lane also would allow emergency vehicles to drive up to help people having a heart attack, a car fire or some other emergency in the drive-thru lane.
The Kelemans said there was no space for police, paramedics and others responding to their daughter’s shooting to pull up to the drive-thru.
Yea those root causes should be addressed too, but it’s a pretty good law IMO since it covers emergency situations beyond that as well. It would be helpful for even things like someone having a stroke or heart attack
Fuck this is so tragic I hated drive thrus without a way to bail already but this is evidence of them actually being fucking dangerous.
