A federal judge is ordering the release of Columbia University pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.
U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz indicated that he will issue an order requiring that Khalil be released today. He denied a motion by the government to stay the ruling for seven days.
The judge asked the parties to consult with a magistrate judge about any conditions that will be attached to Khalil’s release on bail.

See. We live in a perfectly free nation where you can only be illegally detained for protected speech for 3 months before a judge says you can go home but still have to report for trial.
Just hope you don’t have children or other dependents you’re supporting in those 3 months you can’t work. Or have to pay rent.
Don’t forget how free you are to have your entire personal and professional life upended on false charges while waiting in a gulag on the other side of the equator (not necessarily the case with Khalil re: CECOT but even so). God, freedom tastes so good!
Technically CECOT is on the same side of the equator as the US–unless you meant somewhere else.
