One of my favorite novels, extremely well written with very good world building and an amazing use of universe specific parables that add a uniqueness to the novel. The MC is complex, probably neutral evil and commits questionable actions only if it benefits him. The way everything has a consequences later down the line gives a real stake in what the characters do and what has happened and could happen. Most characters aren’t stupid or arrogant. Gu’s are also a unique tool, similar to the demon war’s saga but instead of rocks/minerals it’s “bugs” and has much more depth.
