If you believe anyone is above politics I have a bridge to sell you.

My point is precisely that the US Supreme Court is embroiled in politics. The notion that being appointed somehow insulates the justices from politics is absurd.
Elections at least create some semblance of accountability to the voters.
Elected Judges still get their jobs done. They have clerks who do a lot of their drafting and grunt work in the office.
For large elections, there are staffers and volunteers who do a lot of the electioneering. For small elections, campaign events only occur on weekends and at other times when court is not in session.
Typo fixed. Pedantry is fun isn’t it.?
US Supreme Court Justices are not elected. They make a lot of political decisions beyond just upholding the status quo. There are a lot of US states that have judicial elections and they don’t have major crises because of it.
Short terms of office should have the same effect. If you want to stay in power you should have fight for it.
It’s more of a loophole for jobs like serving that rely on tips. If it was the minimum then all the minimum wage earners would be at server salary.
“Coprime” is the operative qualifier of the original comment. You can’t do what Steve Martin did with coprime amounts of buns and dogs because they can never evenly go into one another. You’ll always have leftovers.
Mercury makes you insane before you die. He’d likely start a nuclear war, and then die.
I generally agreed with this sentiment, but the fact that admins and mods didn’t care makes me understand why they felt the need to point it out in the comments.
As long as the mods and admins care about removing bots instead of just wanting an inflated user base I think the comments about bots should stay confined to posts like this one where they are on topic.
Lemmy Challenge: accept that there are good things among the 300 million people and 3.8 million square miles of the US
Difficulty: impossible
I would expect that there isn’t anything that you would write home about.
People forget that Valve was the first major player to do this.
It would also mean being involved in the most lawsuits, unfortunately.
We don’t have money to donate.
Pastime I think is the correct term.
The unseasoned boiled potatoes and the untoasted bread are just bland.
The ground beef and carrots in the undefinable brown liquid would be a textural nightmare. I cannot fathom how it tastes because the closest thing in the US would be a sloppy joe.
The real problem with this is lack of technique and seasoning.
Here’s how I would “fix” this: Toast the bread, roast and season the potatoes, make the ground beef and sauce into a something resembling Salisbury steak, and cook the carrots as their own side dish.
Why is this a both sides thing? Circumcision is a Jewish rite that became a larger thing because of a couple mentions in the Christian New Testament. It also has some medical application for individuals with certain conditions.
Doing it to all male babies doesn’t make rational sense unless you are a specific type of religious.
When they do release a game it’s stupid expensive. I remember them asking $8 for single nes games.
Physical copies of nes games may be worth thousands in some cases, but that’s the physical object being with something in trade value. no game over 30-40 years old should be worth more than a dollar to two. And really they should be coming in packs with extra features like capcom, Atari and others are doing.
I hope the point is that the people who set the social norms (which make you think OF girls and Drug Dealers are bad people) are the real enemy.
