Editing this again because when this story first broke I had assuming that this was a targeted attack on very specific people. I had also conflated Hezbollah and Hamas - and yes, I do know the difference, I just wasn’t paying as close attention between work, personal things, and Lemmy posting and made a mistake. And while I don’t support their attack on Hezbollah, I was still impressed with what I had assumed was a very targeted attack. But now as more information comes out, this really looks to be no different that if they had sprinkled land mines around someone’s home… sure, it might get that person, but it can also get innocent people as well, and that isn’t impressive. In summary, fuck Israel. Fuck Hamas. Fuck Hezbollah.

This goes to show that Israel could have taken out Hezbollah Hamas leadership at any time… there was no need to raze Palestine other than to move people out so that Israelis can move in and rebuilt.

But even still… they should just make it a regular clinic. Don’t give it a funny name, don’t put their name on it, don’t do anything that will give ANYONE an uneasy feeling about using it when they are in need.

If a woman needs/wants and abortion, she’s most likely gone through hell (no pun intended) making that decision. The last thing she needs is to see that her closest option is the ‘Hail Satan Abortionarium’ or feel that her situation is being used to score political points for some organization.

Artists absolutely do have a say on the matter, they can say no. They can not tour. They can only do small venues that don’t use Live Nation. They can use other ticketing services - although the most expensive concert I went to this year was Rolling Stones and they didn’t use Ticketmaster.

Artists choose to go with Live Nation because it makes them money, provides a better ticketing experience for their fans, and gives the artist a boogeyman to blame for high ticket costs. Pearl Jam tried to fight this fight in the 90s and realized that there isn’t a better alternative if they wanted to tour and make money. They chose to keep touring and went back to using Ticketmaster.

This was the concert they played for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It also included past members of the band. It was a very in-demand show and not a ‘headlining at the county fair/local casino’ show.

That concert was in 2000, so in today’s money that $40 would be around $72.

In 2022 I saw NIN in Cleveland and got GA tickets for $48 each (including fees).

They don’t work because concert tickets are still under valued. If an artist can sell out a 9,000 person venue at $20 a seat, and then they find out they can still sell out the same venue charging $200 a seat - just to a different crowd, then they are going to go with the $200 option.

I love going to concerts and now that I’m older I mostly avoid General Admission tickets, so I’m already paying more. This year I’ve gone to 6 concerts and on average I’ve paid around $120 per ticket. While expensive, I’ve never felt like what I paid wasn’t worth it. But, when it comes to beer/water/food I always feel that it’s over priced and not worth the cost. Don’t get me started on the employee asking for a 20% tip on a $20 beer.

I read IT in the 8th grade and I didn’t really get the whole “transgressive scene meant to evoke the rawness of adolescence being laid bare before the worst cosmic horror” part, but I did understand that they were doing it as a way to ‘ground’ themselves to reality. And as a 13 year old boy, I thought it was kinda hot.

If you go through your state’s Attorney General’s office and you provide all the documentation of what you’ve requested, what has been denied, what the law is, and what you want as the outcome, it typically just takes a letter being sent from the AG to get what you want (assuming it is reasonable). If the law says that documentation or parts need to be made available, and that is what you ask to be done to close the matter, then a letter from the Attorney General will likely get that for you. States aren’t going to force this matter until their citizens start providing evidence and asking for enforcement.

I hope someone suggests to him that, now that Tesla has moved to Texas, they should rename the company “TeXla” so that it will match his other companies with an X in the name. Then all of the articles can start referring to ‘TeXla, formerly Tesla’.
