Kevin has made a few disappointing films over the years, but I wouldn’t say he’s a bad filmmaker.
The 4:30 Movie is quite good, and probably the most mature comedy he’s ever made. It really felt like a return to form so I’d recommend giving that a chance if you enjoyed his early work.
Tales From the Hood (1995) and Tales From the Hood 2 (2018) were both directed by Rusty Cundieff and written by Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott. They’re horror comedies (Cundieff would go on to direct many of the sketches from Chappelle’s Show (2003) so those might be good options if you want a palate cleanser after more serious fare.
There’s also a third ‘Tales From the Hood’, but I haven’t seen it, so I can’t speak to its quality, but it’s got the same creative team.
Agreed, when I rewatch Dexter I always stop after season 4. It doesn’t get better than the Trinity killer storyline. That might be one of the best single seasons of television ever. And it’s crazy how bad that show got by the end… talk about going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows! Although even at its worst the show still managed to be better than the books.
It’s not flattering.
Agreed, I loved the casting but was a bit disappointed with the movie itself but I’m glad they’re bringing him back for more.

Nested comments are so much easier to follow with this UI. I find it very difficult to keep my place in conversations using the default lemmy front end on desktop which is why I’ve stuck with photon or alexandrite. But I will absolutely be using this UI as soon as it’s fully functional. It looks great so far!
kid’s gloves
It’s “kid gloves.” It refers to gloves made of kid leather, the skin of a young goat. Not a child’s glove.

It’s well worth some downtime, Lemmy 0.19 is a major QoL upgrade. Thanks for giving us some advanced notice though!
It’s not flying, it’s falling with style.
