My lukewarm take is that all this hate on AI is really just hating on big companies trying to squeeze money out of some new development. AI (or rather LLMs) are not the problem.

All music is derivative. And if you think the best vocalists or musicians should be the most popular I may have some shocking news for you. The idea that American pop stars are authentic is pretty funny.
Yeah Korean pop idol culture has some extremely toxic elements to it, but so does American celebrity culture. I don’t get the feeling that’s what’s bothering you though.
Who could forget all those touching scenes with little Maggot.
Shutup still works but I wouldn’t trust it to prevent all telemetry. I wouldn’t trust Microsoft not to have other telemetry that’s not part of their services that can be turned off.
Just my 2 cents: I dual boot Windows and Linux. I only start up Windows when I want to play a game, use Linux Mint for everything else. Some games run perfectly fine under Linux (I play a lot of Factorio for example. No Mans Sky I’ve had no issues etc.) but some are just a pain. For those I switch to Windows and then immediately switch back when I’m done playing.
It’s not ideal but this way Windows has next to no information about me at least. And as times goes on I’m seeing more and more games running just fine under Linux. Maybe one day I’ll be able to drop Windows completely.
Unlikely. It won’t run optimally but it shouldn’t be the cause of crashes or bugs. If you’re not sure you can run a ram test (https://memtest.org/)
I mean I didn’t love it but the hate it gets seems a bit over the top. Would’ve been better as just an animated movie though.
I looked at an “AAA” game maybe twice in give or take the last decade and both times have regretted it. Indie games are the bomb.
There was probably a Hamas commander’s handkerchief in the glove compartment.
They are, all the time. But also studios and actors use them as a shield. “It’s not our show that sucks it’s the evil Internet that made us fail.”
This opinion appears to be extremely unpopular, congratulations.
You can’t just say “perchance”
I mean it’s Ubisoft and Disney, if you were expecting anything other than 100% sanitized and wholesome…
Now I don’t know Canadian taxes but just out of interest I investigated once what would happen if I rented out my house (it’s still newly under mortgage so I can’t but just to see what would happen.) I see some of my neighbors rent out theirs from for about this amount, 2500 euros.
After taxes in my part of the world I would retain just under 18000 euros in profit per year, which is a return on investment (~500k) of about 3.5% And this is not counting any repairs or maintenance the house will invariably need.
It’s a crazy amount of rent for the renter but it’s at best a poor return on investment for me, and if I’m a good landlord that actively maintains the place even worse. Sticking the money into even a so-so savings account will give a better return without any headache.
Having rented for most of my life (until very recently) I feel your pain but the real problem is the insane cost of real estate.
Pretty sure you can be a swamp witch at any age you choose. But back in the day you were also shunned and ignored if you did. All up to you.
Taiwan is incredibly pro-US, one of our staunchest allies in Asia, together with Japan. Great idea pissing them off.

Stopped reading there because that’s absolute insanity to ask as an ‘application test’, no matter what your level is. If they ask you for more than a few short programming challenges it’s a scam. I like to provide a bit of unoptimized code and ask the applicant to refactor it, added bonus: I learned a trick or two from some of our applicants.
My rule of thumb: if it takes me more than an hour to complete their tests, they should be paying me.
Behave like a civilized nation. Not collectively punishing an entire population for the actions of some. It’s incredible to have to explain that.
This is not good vs evil. This is evil vs evil. Fighting fire with fire is ridiculously stupid.
Obviously Israel can’t just exterminate the whole population. The world wouldn’t accept that. But making the region unliveable is a different story. They’ve been working on that for decades and this is the culmination of that plan.
If they were just hunting for"terrorists" they wouldn’t have to level entire blocks. Drive entire cities out of their homes.
I realize none of this will connect because Israel’s defenders will argue that for it’s security there’s no line it can’t cross. But for those of us on the sidelines the goal us pretty damn obvious. From “voluntary migration” to there’s “no such thing as a Palestinian people” (quotes from serving ministers) it’s pretty damning stuff.
So it’s not a problem with AI. It’s just a problem for some mayfly companies that try to profit from the latest trend?
