Oil profits go SPLAT!

Western defense analysts estimate the cost of a single Buk-M3 system at approximately $45 million, factoring in the launcher, radar, command vehicle, and missiles.
And this doesn’t even touch on the amount of time to build & deploy a replacement. If Russia is even able to do so at this point.

What a snowflake.

Ukraine has demonstrated that they know how to use different drone tactics to circumvent various types of defenses. There have been plenty of videos showing successful drone attacks getting past nets, flying into bunkers, dealing with tank modifications, etc.

I worked on a memory manager back in the days of DOS & extended memory overlays. The original author liked to refer to blocks of memory as “cookies” and temporary variables as “handy”, among other things. My favorites however were a flag identifying memory corruption as “shit_cookie_corrupt” and a panic function when it couldn’t recover that was called ohShitOhShitOhShit().
My elementary school had 3 “portable classrooms” back in the 70s.

Five Russian oil refineries set ablaze, four airfield strikes, a Lukoil offshore rig ablaze in the Caspian Sea – all in one night – noisily contradicted Trump’s claim that “Ukraine has no cards.”
Love that summary!

I’m so happy to see Ukraine expanding their attacks to include Russia’s shadow fleet and now offshore oil rigs. Repairing this is likely to be significantly more difficult than land based refineries.
Anybody know how many offshore oil rigs Russia has?

Maybe. Let’s see if they follow through.

I feel like the employees at many theaters these days just don’t care if you bring in your own food.
My wife and I also occasionally see imax movies at a theater that’s part of a furniture store. The store also has an ice cream shop & burger restaurant. That theater is more than happy to let you bring in food from those places.

The Defense Ministry earlier said the flight took place after repair work.
If this is the state of their aircraft maintenance then expect to start seeing more even more crashes in the coming weeks.

I’ve always said that edge cases will continue to plague “AI” things like self driving cars until true AGI exists. In the decades I’ve been driving I’ve seen all manner of edge cases that neither Waymo nor any other self driving car would handle properly.
One example I like to use is when I stopped at a red light next to a construction site. I was watching the red light and didn’t see a cop next to the construction zone who was waving me through the red light. He eventually took a few steps towards my car and yelled to get my attention, after which I drove through the red light.
For a self driving car to respond in a situation like that it would need to recognize the cop as an authority figure and not just a pedestrian that is overriding the red light you stopped at.

They are Russian shelters. I have no such concerns.
And is yellow “take that, liberals”?

Haven’t there already been documented cases of thieves dressing up this way? And the FBI also reportedly warned DHS/ICE that this was likely to happen if they continued to cover their faces etc.

I’ve gotten the runaround from cops who confidently say things that aren’t true. I had a neighbor who was a lieutenant at the time, and talked to him about the issue I was dealing with. He told me in no uncertain terms that the cop was wrong, and suggested I go back when my neighbor was on duty, and if I got the runaround again then to immediately call him.

20 years ago I worked in IT at a major university, and one of the things I managed there was a 3D visualization wall. Basically a 15 foot wide rear projection wall in 4k, and by wearing special goggles you could see in 3D.
I once saw a demonstration using that wall that showed how surgeons could theoretically perform surgery remotely when using haptic devices. For cutting edge technology from 20 years ago it was quite impressive.
For highly specialized remote activities, including the above, remote learning, etc. I could see something like this very useful. For general social activities, not at all.

Clearly some techbro wants to monetize buzzwords plus laptop.
Probably because a group of uniformed police with more solid clubs would track you down and make an example of you.
