Regardless of who owns the IP, it will open the flood gates of any company suing another for even just taking inspiration from one of their IPs.

If Trump wins there will likely be a civil war too. People won’t stand to see innocent people hurt by draconian laws and attitudes around abortion, existing as a queer person, and racism.

While the designs were clearly inspired by Pokemon, I don’t think Nintendo has any leg to stand on in this case. The connection is flimsy at best., but I’m not a lawyer so I dunno, maybe there’s some legal loophole that Nintendo is banking on.

If this case goes in Nintendo’s favour, it could open the door for other lawsuits like Stardew Valley could get sued for infringing on Nintendo’s Harvest Moon IP, for example. I know that’s ludicrous but who knows, the law goes in unexpected directions sometimes.

If you’re not part of the group, then don’t use it. I’d say maybe the only exception is “queer”. I’m fine with people using queer to describe their friends and family who are queer. Not everyone is OK with it though, but it’s pretty common. With queer, don’t use it unless the person you’re talking to self identifies as queer.

I have heard that some CPAP machines have a foam that degrades and makes it’s way into people’s lungs which is scary. And they aren’t even necessarily cheap CPAP machines. Just, buyer beware on that front too.

I think everyone should just be making whatever decision is right for them and their circumstances.

Elves in LOTR have technically infinite vision because the world used to be flat and illuminated by two glowing trees that resided in Valinor. Because the world was flat, and Elves have essentially perfect vision at any distance, they could actually see things that were on the opposite side of the world.

After Morgoth (aka Melkor, aka the evil god that Sauron worships) and Ungoliant (the mother of Shelob, the spider that nearly kills Frodo) destroyed the trees then the world was made into a globe and Elves infinite vision ability, while still useful, wasn’t quite as powerful as before.

Unfortunately the next step is World War III which lasts from 2026 to 2053. It almost kills all of humanity and very nearly leaves the planet uninhabitable.

While you’re at it, switch over to DD/MM/YYYY for the date format. The only 2 configurations that make sense is that or YYYY/MM/DD. Either go general to specific or specific to general, MM/DD/YYYY makes no sense.

Well it seems like Wikipedia’s list of countries is pretty sparse. They only have USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, EU, and Brazil.

It’s extremely confusing but there are basically 2 measurements systems for food energy:

There’s kilocalories (abbreviated as cal) and there’s kilojoules (abbreviated as kJ). It can get very confusing because some places will label them calories (cal) and Calories (kJ), lower and upper case respectively which is extremely confusing because 1 kJ is equivalent to 4.81 cal.

According to Wikipedia the US and Canada use kilocalories (cal or calories) and pretty much the rest of the world uses kilojoules (kJ or Calories).

The main difference between the two is that kilocalories are a measure of heat energy, where 1 kilocalorie is the heat needed to warm 1 liter of water by 1 degree celcius. Whereas a kilojoule is a measure of energy usually described by force in newtons.

They’re both actually from the metric system, but kilocalorie is the old and obsolete form while kilojoules is the currently accepted metric measurement.

Reminds me of an early application of AI where scientists were training an AI to tell the difference between a wolf and a dog. It got really good at it in the training data, but it wasn’t working correctly in actual application. So they got the AI to give them a heatmap of which pixels it was using more than any other to determine if a canine is a dog or a wolf and they discovered that the AI wasn’t even looking at the animal, it was looking at the surrounding environment. If there was snow on the ground, it said “wolf”, otherwise it said “dog”.
