I think he left Damascus before homs fell.
The military didn’t really seem like they wanted to fight for a dictator that already abdicated his throne.
I think we just get to wait and see. 🙈
I have no idea. It was titled something like “rebels take over Damascus airport”. Then I went on flight radar and saw the airplane taking off with no destination set.
I can’t verify how “real” it is other than I saw it on social media right before that airplane took off and saved it. Everything today moved pretty quickly.
Personally I don’t think Assad was on that flight.
Edit: here is the source according to my browser history

Sorry I don’t remember the original source but here’s the video. https://files.catbox.moe/2n2y9q.mp4
I watched that live. The video from the airport a few minutes before was surreal.
Mod handled that super poorly and doubled down on being wrong… Honestly it’s a master class on what not to do.
If you are banned from blahaj (or any other instance) your posts here will not federate on that instance. The refederation applies to the community not individual users or CDRMITTENS. That would need to be addressed by them with the other Lemmy instances admin team.
So to be clear if you use blahaj to view ncd you will still not see posts by CDRMITTENS until he appeals his ban with them.
Talking with ada this seemed to be a poorly handled miscommunication. Ada and her mod team are not selectively removing our content but they have banned some of our more active posters and this is the source of the original drama.
I was thinking more along the line of user bans. Usually from what I gather they end up mailing all the mods to figure out why they are banned. It creates extra work that could probably be avoided.
Unbanning users from a community is a whole process in itself as well since you have to find a post they made.
Moderators of the community can see what mod did what action. I don’t think users can. It should at least show the user that was “moderated” what mod did the action so they know who to complain to first.
I agree the mod log for communities should be public or at least have the option to make it that way. More transparency is always good.
That’s crazy is there a breakdown of the bandwidth? Like is it federation, images or ddos using so much bandwidth?
I know you are looking/found a solution but if the main culprit is images would it be possible to offload it to a few servers? I feel like running multiple image server instances would be cheaper for bandwidth. Oracle cloud offers 10tb outbound a month for free per region/month on the free teir. Or is an unmetered host viable? From my understanding Lemmy is pretty light in terms of CPU/memory or does that fall apart at scale?
If you don’t mind and it’s not too much trouble would you be willing to share stuff like load average/disk use?
Edit I looked this over again. Not an endorsement for giving oracle or Larry Ellison money, they are awful. I was just was trying to say the free stuff is generous. You can use 40tb outbound without paying on the free resources. As always aggressive support for you Ada! Thanks for the transparency in your community!
How much bandwidth does the instance use a day?
In some jurisdictions that is still considered csam. Even if it’s animated or whatever excuse…
I’ve been wondering when Russia would take the gloves off and send in Segal. I guess after the government collapsed.
