You’re right I meant to say “Gaia” not “Theia”. My bad.
Nerdy girlthing, now in Piefed! I really enjoy chatting about games :3

Well, there’s no way we will stop on Mars. It’s just our first step. If it was just about reaching the Moon and Mars that’d be fine by me but people with space ambitions are dreaming about drilling to Enceladus’ ocean and colonizing other moons.
And these rich guys? They don’t even care about laws here on Earth. There’s literally NO way anyone could stop them from ruining other life-bearing worlds.

Yeah I played Dread Delusion and it’s a good game but is quite far from Lunacid for me. Idk, DD has very different vibes and its more open exploration also feels distinct from the depths of the great well.
From what I’ve experienced in the demo of Verho, it’s Lunacid with some inspiration from Dark Souls so I’m very intrigued.

The report outlines 11 top-priority science objectives.
4. Crew health: How do humans fare psychologically, cognitively, and physically in the Martian environment?
Something something guinea pigs
Unrelated to the above: I don’t really look forward to human colonization of other planets (yes I know this article isn’t about colonization, it just made me think of it). Like, we were given (by chaos’ grace) literally the best planet possible to live on and we managed to ruin, and even as learned that what we are doing to our beloved Gaia, we just didn’t stop!
And given that people like Musk and Bezos are definitely gonna play a big role in human expansion to the void, I’m even more pessimistic. If we can’t even behave yourself in our own home, why do we expect to be able to behave in these so-much-more-hostile places??
Sorry for the pessimism ._.
edit: changed “Theia” to “Gaia”

Thanks!

Why are the communist/socialist instances blocked by default and not like, maga? I see it’s blocked by my instance anyway, but thought it was weird to block those three considering there are much worse instances. I already unblocked them, so I don’t need help, I’m just wondering why.
There are two types of instance blocking: those that start off in each user’s block list, and defederation. The first one can be reverted by a user (what you have done) while the latter one cannot be changed by anyone but admin. So, MAGA instances are more likely to be defederated (along with spam-filled instances).
As for the communist instances blocked by default, I guess you mean hexbear and lemmygrad. These are authoritarian-leaning instances known to be pretty combative (and really liking China).

Playing Lunacid means you’re damned to search for similar games forever :p
Thanx for the recommendation! I might check after I get my hands on Verho that was recently released.

If they will ever make Outer Wilds 2, they should put this shit into their scariest planet.

I guess we have to disagree about whether this feature is dystopian or not. Have a nice day!

I can’t see how labeling a post as AI-gened in PieFed is gonna make you homeless, sorry. Unless you’re talking about the AI impact in general but then I don’t see how it’s related to your criticism of this feature.
Tagging posts as AI-gened is good NOW, not in a hypothetical dystopian future where people abandon you because your music was accused of being AI-gened. Maybe that future will never actually come, for whatever reason!

You aren’t isolated though, it’s just your single post that’s been labelled as AI-gened, and by PieFed doesn’t even hide the post from users. Also, I disagree that it’s any different: being banned because people thought you were bigotted when you didn’t mean to can be a brutal experience.
And if one mod/admin keeps accusing you in using AI then call out their behavior, avoid their communities and move on. Sometimes people are just assholes.

I disagree. Laughing at an AI-gened meme might be unpleasant (upon later realization) but it’s still better than wrongly accusing a person of using genAI. Especially if they work really hard on their craft and thus treat it like an important part of themselves. Artists already experience a lot of accusation under even their most human art.

Then mods will tag it.

Good idea but it won’t help with accidental AI posting - when OP genuinely didn’t know that the image was AI generated. The label can be set AFTER posting which is good.

GenAI labels should always default to “human-made”, with labels applied to generated stuff, not human-made. Also, being wrongly accused of using AI by a mod isn’t much different from being banned over a misunderstanding. It just means we need multiple mods per community and a full transparency of mod actions.
Personally, I see more benefits from having genAI labels.

Aliens are lucky that space hates humans so much!
