  • I considered it but:

    1. I think its safer to leave attribution in general.
    2. Is “the joke” the setup, the punchline, or both?

Since that person came up with the setup, i think an editor changing the punchline isnt necessarily making a new joke, they’d just be a third contributor.

Opinions vary though, sure. As a software dev, I dream of a world where everything is version controlled and no one’s contributions are undocumented or underplayed.

  • I love 😬 that we’re now at the point where “is this real?” is ambiguous between:

    • did the story factually occur in our shared reality?
    • was this story actually posted to 4chan?
    • did a human even make this image?

And at this juncture with the common addition of “chat, is this real?” we can further add:

    • does the audience exist?
    • does the person sharing the image exist?
    • do I exist?

  • Sure, that’s kind of my point though. I was discussing with a friend recently what role restaurants would have in the glorious anarchic communist utopia. We hit on the notion that what we call “hot bars” would probably become much more common.

It doesn’t make sense for everyone to cook for themselves or be deeply concerned with the logistics of food. It would be efficient for larger kitchens to make regular group meals and you go pick one up when you’re ready to eat. Something like Meals on Wheels would still exist for all the reasons you say, probably sourcing from their own kitchen or from one of the larger group ones.

I could even see a case for group meal delivery to save time on everyone having to leave job sites to go get food.

I guess my main point here is that I find it more productive and hopeful to imagine these kinds of futures: where everyone is working together systematically to provide convenience and support for everyone. I also find it much more believable as a possible future than rather some cottage core vision of everyone become subsistence smallhold farmers.

(Happy cake day BTW! I hope that cake wasn’t delivered!)

WWE RAW is (was?) the branding for a televised professional wrestling event which occurred most every Monday. It traveled between venues so fans could attend a show locally. Last time it came to NOLA it was a huge deal, the city was swarming with wrestling fans almost packed more densely than football fans when the superb owl is in town.

The phrase “Monday night raw?” could also be interpreted as an offer for unprotected sex. “Hitting it raw” means no condoms or other barriers. So she was (allegedly) expecting to have rough, wild sex and instead was (allegedly) invited to attend a fake (allegedly) sporting event.

(As an aside, I don’t know why unprotected sex would be interpreted as being any better for her. It’s intimate and I have partners who prefer it, but i would say it’s minimally a factor in how good the sex is for the receiving party.)

  • I’m broadly against defederation in general without good material cause (such as: instance does a lot of trolling or brigading, instance hosts illegal or deeply immoral content).

I like the hexbears! There’s some bad ones of course, but there’s people on this instance I don’t like or agree with so that’s hardly an argument against. I can block the worst tankies of lemmygrad as well, or the whole instance if it really personally bothered me.

In broader terms, I think we see enough of an amount of center-lib arguments that it’s essentially the water we swim in. I’m glad that out and out right wing takes are very rare, but I think some more extreme left views could be good. I don’t agree with vanguardists at all but I can’t act like coalition with them against overt fascists isnt necessary sometimes.

And anyway, federation isnt about political coalition. It’s about exchange of ideas and I’m confident enough in the correctness of anarchy to not feel threatened by the ideas of other leftists.
