“I don’t know why the president decided to do this, [but] I think the outcome was exactly the right outcome,” Jeffries said in an interview with CNN.

The remarks are a stark contrast from Jeffries’s criticisms of the scores of other pardons Trump has offered — mostly to his political allies — throughout his second term. Jeffries, joined by most Democrats in his caucus, has bashed those reprieves as both an affront to the nation’s criminal justice system and more evidence that the Trump administration is the most “corrupt” in the country’s history.

But in the case of Cuellar, the Democratic leader has taken a softer approach. And Wednesday, following Trump’s pardon, Jeffries questioned the legitimacy of the corruption charges against him.

“Listen, the reality is [that] this indictment was very thin to begin with, in my view,” Jeffries told CNN. “The charges were eventually going to be dismissed — if not at the trial court level [then] by the Supreme Court, as they’ve repeatedly done in instances just like this.”

  • After Bovino threw the can, the Star-Tribune wrote, “plumes of green and gray smoke burst over the crowd,” causing protesters and observers to flee the scene.

That is probably not normal tear gas (which is bad enough), it’s likely HC smoke which is extremely carcinogenic (arc).

If there is any justice for any of this someday there’s going to be a massive settlement and taxpayers are going to be paying for cancer and hospice treatment for thousands of people affected by this in a couple of decades.

e; There was a good step by step guide for disarming these somewhere that I can’t find right now, but if memory serves it was 1. Approach with leaf blower to direct smoke away from you, 2. Drop a traffic cone over the grenade to contain its smoke a bit more, 3. Dump a mixture of water and baking soda into the cone and drown the grenade.

e2; We don’t have definitive information that this is what it looks like for sure yet, so I added the two italicized words.

  • In endorsing a bill that would carry forward a huge spike in funding to ICE, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), the senior Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, acknowledged it excludes most of the ICE reforms Democrats have demanded since the Jan. 7 shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis. But a shutdown or a short-term spending patch, she argued, would be worse.

“A continuing resolution will jettison the guardrails we have secured while ceding authority to President Trump, Stephen Miller, and [DHS] Secretary [Kristi] Noem,” she said Tuesday morning.

New regulatory guardrails aren’t going to even slow down ICE a little bit, we already have a mountain of examples of them ignoring their current regulations and lying about their conduct constantly. The only thing that will restrain them is denying them the resources they need to carry out their campaign of oppression.

What’s really frustrating tho is I’m sure Rep DeLauro knows all of that already and she’s just trying to push this bullshit through anyway.
