You do what you would do anyway: organize, build community, build dual power, undermine the state. Any specific politician doesn’t matter. The right will pull the rug out from under people, they’ll do whatever evil thing they’re gonna do, but the left will set up the rug in the first place and give people a false sense of hope.

Authoritarianism is bad at disasters. The more autocraric, the worse they are at responding to dynamic environments. Build mutual aid networks, support people targeted by the state, prepare (collectively) for the collapse or withdrawal of the state.

It never mattered which puppet is pulling the levers, or how authoritarian or not a society is, the assignment has always been the same. If you don’t have the groundwork of dual power, any more radical action is just asthetic.

Edit: IMHO, the two most important things to organize around are anti-police terror and disaster preparedness. Authoritarianism is only tenable if the community believes that having the police is better than abolishing them. In times of crisis the state withdrawals. If people can provide for their own needs, they see proof that the state is unnecessary. Make the state unnecessary, there will be a crisis.

I went to school in a dirt poor place. Like half of my graduating class joined the military. Recruiters were in the halls like every week. Yeah, it’s absolutely intentional.

They don’t care about profits any more than feudalism did. It’s about domination and sadism. Read “Bullshit Jobs” if you want to understand the dynamics here. Profit had absolutely nothing to do with it.

What is and is not political is defined by oppressors. Their crosses, punisher skulls, and blue lives matter stickers are not political. The atheist symbol, antifa arrows, and black lives matter stickers are political. A keffiyeh is a political statement, but an IDF shirt isn’t. “Political” functionally means “talking about your oppression or the oppression of others.”

There is no saving America, there’s only buying time. Democrats can’t do what’s needed to prevent fascism because actually doing something about the Republican party would risk creating actual democracy. Prepare to fight fascism now because at best you’re buying yourself another 4 years. Vote, don’t vote, vote for a third party out of protest, whatever you do organize with other people and prepare for the worst.

In the best case, I’m wrong and you’ve made new friends. But if you don’t organize now it will be too late to organize in the worst case.

Depends on your location. Washington has some of the best public records laws in the country. SPD releases all body cam footage when their officers kill someone. Unfortunately it’s deceptively edited and when you request the full footage it takes about 2 years where they tell you every month they’re delaying because of Covid or something.

Police will hide as long as possible and destroy evidence when they can get away with it. SPD has been sued for deleting vehicle footage after public records requests for the footage. Now they just edit the footage to look like there’s nothing to see and hope no one requests the full videos.
