I used to work in an office building next to a big football stadium, and on days of international matches every road was closed and the hooligans were separated by cordons, it was carefully arranged how the foreign fans could reach the stadium without bumping into local hooligans, mounted police were waiting nearby if something goes wrong.
Civ 7 is in final stages of development, it will be released in 3 months, so I think you are a bit late about your suggestions.
I saw in an interview with Sid Meier, that they have a one third rule for developing new civ games. One third remains the same, one third is related, but works differently and one third is totally new. So it has a chance that your requests would be implemented in 7. Civic tree was a new thing in 6, so it’s possible that it will be changed in 7. Those are update services. Upgrading your os is a basic security measure nowadays. You recommend to sacrifice some security because of a minor inconvenience. It’s alright if you can live with that tradeoff, but please don’t recommend it on the internet. Windows assumes a user is not knowledgeable enough about this topic, so it’s enabled for them.
Other hint, because it seems you are also not very knowledgeable about this topic, usually you can disable these things with group policies if you really want to, so you don’t have to run it after each boot. Or you can also set up a scheduled task or create a service with nssm.

Excel is the one I don’t hate, all alternatives suck way more. Active Directory is also ok, but you have to click more than in a moba game, it can become annoying.

The problem is not building a new operating system, but app support. We have and used to have a lot alternatives, but because mainstream apps are missing no one wants to use them. They don’t have enough users, so developers won’t develop for them, egg-chicken problem. Everyone tried to solve this by android compatibility layer, but android apps will always run better on android…
I use microG since years at this point, and while most things are working, I always find some quirks, and some random apps not behaving as they should. I’m fine with that, but a non-tech guy would freak out from that. And it’s not even a completely different os, only an alternative implementation of GMS aka Play Services.
See previous and current examples, all of them was/is a good or at least usable as an os, but if you can’t use your bank’s app or whatever app you need in your daily life, you won’t switch to it. Even M$ couldn’t solve this problem, why Mr. Pei could solve it.
Edit: Obviously in the article they don’t speak about an actual OS, but one more Android skin… So Mr. Pei is not planning to solve this, they are just redefining the meaning of words, Android skins are called "OS"s in entrepreneur speak nowadays.

I was in highschool in the 2000s in Europe, and msn was our default way of communication with classmates.
We could standadize measurements more than 100 of years ago with the metric system, we can also do this with time and date. ISO 8601 is the future old man.

It would be hard to get the context, and you could totally misunderstood the thread, e.g. from your hidden comment everyone get that replies are sarcastic, but you don’t.
Maybe an “temporarily unhide blocked user’s comment and replies” button to show the whole thread.
There are instances where downvotes are disabled, if you don’t like them you can just use an instance like that.

Keyboard navigation. I know about https://github.com/vmavromatis/Lemmy-keyboard-navigation but it’s annoying that I have to use an addin/userscript for such a basic feature.
Option for default comment sorting. you can change the default sort only for posts, but not for comments, comments always sorted by Hot, and you have to manually change it each time you open comments.
In Voyager you can set this up, but it would be useful in the webui as well.
Workaround: use multiline code blocks with defined language, e.g:
