I’m not saying this is the best advice, but maybe it resonates with you. Find a non fictional character or any subject that seems interesting. If there is a person that seems cool and has a biography try reading/listening/watching that. By doing this you broaden you horizon a little and that itself should give you a slightly changed view on your own fictional character. In this way you and you character can evolve together and that may also change your relationship with the character. As others have mentioned, joining a group activities like sports, volunteering, debating club, etc can also be beneficial. TLDR: Broaden your horizons. Try to interact with new people and new ideas/views.

Just switched from Mint to openSuse Tubleweeb due to a fresh 9070 xt. Had to switch to Wayland due to some weirdness with 240hz Oled. Seems like the driver for the 9070 xt may be a little bleeding edge but otherwise it’s solid. Zypper seems more powerful, at a glance than apt, but that’s just my impression. So far I have tried Final Fantasy XIV and Cyberpunk 2070, both work great.

I’m not trying to convince anyone, just explaining why I do the things I do and why I think the way I think. Fixing it easily misses the point, for me personally. I like the fact that linux is so easy to poke around in, even if it breaks. Breaking can be a good thing since that way I learn the most. I enjoy rebuilding my entire setup from time to time. I diskile the additional complexity.

May I suggest you change email providers then? You get to hurt google by not giving them your data and support smaller european companies. Here’s a list in no particular order. I don’t know much about compression algorithms. What are the benefits of doing this?

My editors

• Professionally I use Jetbrains stuff (intellij, pycharm, etc).
• At home I use Neovim because I like to have lsp support, I’m too cheap to pay for IDE’s and I dislike VSCode for personal reasons. For quick edits I use default text editor e.g. kate/gedit.

My opinions on learning new editors

• If you need to go fast now, use what you know best.
• If you have time to learn just try whatever looks cool. Learning a new editor/way to edit text will broaden your horizons even if you don’t end up using it.

While I agree philosophically and would prefer the Debian based version. I personally have had issues with it, myabe it’s my Nvidia graphics.

So for a beginner I would reccomend the version that is considered the “main” version at the moment. Currently it is still Ubuntu based afaik.

Why would anyone criticize Mint as a suggestion? It’s easy to use and stable. I have been using it on my main pc for abut a year with barely any issues (i had more problems on windows). I have tried other distros: mutable, immutable, rolling etc but I always come back to Mint if I want things to just work.

P.S. I have used ubuntu professionally for about 7 years and while I don’t always like it, it is still a solid choice.
