Says the person that claims software can’t destroy hardware.
Good for you! ProtonDB makes more sense than your anecdote.
Not free? People tend to have personal cell phones already and $80 is on the cheap end (no extra cost). Linux supporting obsolete hardware isn’t exactly a plus. It’s more a side effect of desktop Linux being a decade or two behind proprietary.
And I used to think all conspiracy theorist nutjobs were republican.
Says the kind of person that believes everything they see and hear on the internet and chooses to not investigate claims. Or you’re just a commie that doesn’t know better. Both of them are bad for America.
Don’t want either candidate. I’m simply saving my time from endless hours of mulling over which ‘might’ be less bad to vote in an election where 99.99%+ chance it wouldn’t matter anyway.
Because kernel level anti-cheat can be circumvented by modifying the kernel which Linux allows. -Kudos to the devs for not allowing cheaters. Also, these games have ‘minimum spec’ requirements where Linux is nowhere to be found on those specs. -They don’t owe Linux users their support. And as you say ‘Very often’ - which implies there are still great games that simply don’t work.
Dual booting is a bother, and an overhead on storage as well as a main tech support issue for Linux users. Gaming in Linux isn’t so straight forward either.
Linux crashing from VLC is why I discovered MPV (CTT had this same issue with VLC specifically in Linux). Linux also crashed from a native game (Bombermaaan), and mounting a drive that hadn’t been shut down properly among other times, but these are crashes were where reasons can be specified and not be a possible result of hardware malfunction.
Windows automatically repaired the drive before mounting. -Some would say because of ‘bloat’.
Although to be fair I don’t think crashes are a good way to measure how usable an operating system is for desktop users.
Agree, and I’m tired of seeing anecdotes on it when I could give my own where Linux crashed 10x as much in one month as Windows in a decade for me, and me being able to specify reasons. There’s also plenty of stability issues with Linux to be found online with a simple web search. When Windows Millenium was giving people headaches, I fixed it simply by removing the crappy software firewalls that were popular at the time. -I ran WinME for over 6 months of heavy gaming without shutdown with no problems -shutdown to upgrade hardware.
And we’re not even getting into how ‘stable’ is a misused term among their community.
An $80 smart phone is more capable and portable.
Don’t migrant workers get work visas for picking fruit?
Wars are fought with propaganda. This war isn’t special.
Why is there an issue with ‘trans’ but not ‘women’s’? If they’re going to divide up (exclude) sexes, perhaps make a ‘trans’ competition too.
Carnac the Magnificent!
As much as I hate Go ogle, it is up to us to choose. -Sad part is all but Yandex is burying the same information as Go ogle it seems.
Youtube shadow banned raw footage and promoted heavily narrated and edited clips of that footage. -Directly responsible for riots and civil unrest. While I agree about the anti-vax nonsense; youtube / google need to be exposed for what they are doing.
That didn’t stop the circle-jerking, romanticism, and ignorance of the sub’s participants, or the ridiculous and inordinate amount of positive and negative karma coming from subs about weevils, for example. Easy karma just for posting ‘aww lawd, here we go again’ in r/bedbugs. Post a pic of a steak in r/steaks with ‘cast iron’ and ‘reverse sear’ and get easy karma too. - Post the same steak or even a much better one with ‘tri-clad / air fryer’ and get nothing. -First-hand experience with a crappy AI generated steak and one I put in an air fryer for 25 minutes at 180F before finishing in a tri-clad. -Edge to edge medium looking better than 99% of theirs. -lol. (The karma system is shit)
I’ve been learning to control the outrage, and figuring out ways to turn things around. It’s like my time with conspiracy theories helped me to discern bullshit, fact check, be objective, etc.

‘It’s your fault for choosing the wrong distro’ ‘skill issue’ ‘pebkac’. - yeah ok
