I just had someone not hold the door for me, after I held the door for them and they acknowledged it, and said thank you. 🤷

I was walking towards the entrance of a building, texting on my phone and didn’t realize someone was walking behind me as I got to the main doors. So I apologized to the woman (for being in her way), put my phone away and held the door open and let her go in first. She said “thanks!”

Then we went through the 2nd set of inner doors she opened the door and didn’t bother holding it open for me or look back or anything. Just pulled it open just enough for her to squeeze through and let the door start to close in my face.

As far as my HTPC needs go, I’d have to figure out a way to shoehorn bluetooth into this, as it would have to be wireless for TV use, missing a mouse trackpad as well.

For the steam controller, I wonder if the controller has USB host mode to power and accept input from it, and if it would register the keys at all, not sure.

I’m not sure it favors some of us, as it’s a sign all of us collectively have gotten waaay too comfortable letting pieces of shit off the hook for their behavior. If we ever make it out of this I think we need to swing pretty hard the other direction on ‘tolerating’ people being total fucking assholes to everyone else in their career, in politics, in public. Call that shit out, shun them, make them understand freedom of speech does not allow you to literally spew hate speech, threaten people, and generally be a corrupt asshole. I hope so! Waydroid works on linux and on handsets, but since its still a container the android OS/apps still don’t have full hardware access like direct Bluetooth, WiFi, etc. They pass internet, audio, and GPU acceleration to the waydroid container, but Bluetooth, WiFi, USB peripherals, etc are still locked to the host linux system. So having an android translation layer instead seems like it would be great for exposing all the hardware capabilities of the host system, to the android apps.

Here’s to hoping postmarketOS gets audio, camera and VoLTE support added for the Fairphone 5, and Valve releases its android translation layer. That would make the Fairphone 5 a daily driver for basically anyone.

I’ve been following the development of these games for about 12 years, both SkyBlivion and SkyWind. Sadly I’m probably not at the age anymore that I would realistically be interested and have time to sit down and play these open ended games again. I’m really bummed about that after waiting all this time, but each year that goes by I’m less and less excited about these games getting released, I just don’t have the desire to play them anymore.

I’m commenting on literally being watched though, so let’s say you get up to go to the bathroom after your first bite the chef marks that as ‘didn’t like his burger’ because you took a bite (watched 1 episode) and didn’t continue to binge eat the burger (binge the whole season by the end of the month), BAM because you had a life event you couldn’t control, you now hate the burger and hate the show.

This is not a fun way to consume anything.

The thing I hated about Netflix was the stress of knowing i was being watched with my viewing habits and that affected how they decided to cancel or continue shows.

Imagine being a customer at a restaurant and the chef is in the back watching you eat, saying things like:

“well, if he doesn’t eat the whole thing in less than 10 minutes that means he probably hated it and won’t continue to buy more burgers, so we should just remove it from the menu now and never serve that burger again.”

Who the fuck wants to ‘relax’ and watch stuff when i know if I start watching something and stop after episode 1 because I liked it, realize my partner might also like it, and I wait 3 months to watch it together (not within their 30 day or whatever window), knowing that might contribute to Netflix canceling a show that I fucking liked in the first place!

So no, I don’t stream stuff anymore. I’m sick of paying for content that constantly gets canceled, and also experiencing stress while doing so.

Even if it was foss, it would still be a chromium based rendering engine. Basically Firefox and apple’s WebKit are the only things to run to that isn’t chromium based, the web is barely staying ‘open’ as it is.
