I watched the video and still don’t understand why she wants / wanted to get rid of yarling. She makes points but it’s just a different sound overall rather than a “worse” sound IMO. It makes the bands she references feel iconic and unique.
Unfortunately they turned schools into glorified daycares so they always say it “endanger” students to let them off early or get to school after parents go to work.

Maybe some of them could’ve been genuinely really interested and had good intentions. Did you ever try to help them learn the correct pronunciation? It can be very hard for native English speakers. I definitely could see how this could’ve been insensitive. There are many poor stereotypes unfortunately as well with growing up as an Asian-American, even from teachers as “jokes.”

Vegetarians aren’t generally animal rights activists
To be fair, “An estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older – about 1 in 4 adults – suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.”
The way the term is being used here though is to refer to vegans as preachy and annoying; it’s not a pro-vegan term. It’s just not a nice term to use as it ostracizes and belittles people fighting for rights.
