Or you know pursue avenues instead of voting for your favourite genocidal imperialist.

Like participating in those primaries that you think you’re above?

There wasn’t a primary last year. And the primary four years before, Biden said he was going to be a one term “caretaker” candidate, and step aside to let someone else run.

There were primaries for most other positions in the government. The Left with zero representation in any level of government, and a fixation on just the presidency every 4 years, name a more iconic duo…

There were primaries for most other positions in the government.

Nearly two-thirds of 2023 elections had unopposed candidates, nonpartisan group finds

Throughout 2024, Ballotpedia covered 76,902 elections in 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories. Of that total, 53,485 (70%) were uncontested and 23,417 (30%) were contested.

On average, between 2018 and 2023, 58% of elections covered by Ballotpedia have been uncontested.

The 70% uncontested election rate found in 2024 was the highest rate Ballotpedia has covered in a year since data collection began in 2018. The second highest rate was 65% in 2020. The lowest rate in a year was 50% in 2021.

You don’t build a movement out of thin air. If you can’t get your shit together enough to win in elections that rarely even have opposition, maybe starting at the presidency is a dumb idea?

In another comment I likened it to a marathon. The time to be ready isn’t the day of. You can’t just show up and wonder why you didn’t finish.

A conversation about local political organizing would be kinda wasted here, wouldn’t it? Something better spent in person, with other people who live here.

A geographically broad, anonymized internet forum is really only good for national and global conversations.

At no point did I say it should be done here. I’m pointing out it ISN’T being done. They come here to complain about not having a presidential option while not bothering to even try to get someone in a city council, or state Congress.

Sorry, it was not my intention to imply you did. The thought flowed from the topic.
