I found these unique items labelled “bols” which I think is French for “bowls”. They came with a strangely-shaped key, but it doesn’t help, I can’t see how to use these items as bowls?

Depending on which system it is, it might still be covered by patents, in which case only Abloy can make new keys – and they will happily do so if you can provide them with proof of ownership. (Where I live, quality locking systems will come with a card containing the relevant information, which serves as proof of ownership. I’m not sure if that’s how it works elsewhere.)
There are companies offering rekeying services for Abloy systems but I’m not aware of the details. It’s probably not something you’d want to try yourself.
Abloy make nice locking systems. I use une on my apartment door (which is definitely weaker than the lock now). Not the cheapest but also not super expensive for my simple setup, and the slender key saves space in my pocket.
