Summary
With Donald Trump’s impending return to the White House, federal workers in Washington, D.C., face uncertainty as he plans to slash federal employment, relocate thousands of positions out of D.C., and reinstate controversial policies like “Schedule F,” which would reduce job protections for federal employees.
His proposals, supported by allies like Elon Musk, aim to reduce what he calls “deep state” inefficiencies.
This has raised concerns about the economic impact on the D.C. region, where federal employment constitutes a significant portion of the economy.
Some federal employees are considering leaving their jobs or relocating due to fears of job instability and moral conflicts with potential policy shifts.
Anyone who still believes the “deep state” bullshit after Trump getting reelected is too stupid to deserve the right to vote.
The deep state was just elected though…
That’s not the point though.
If there was a “deep state” working to keep Trump from being elected, why would they have given him similar vote totals to 2020 yet given Harris less than Biden?
If they didn’t vote for him, prepare to be fired anyway. And they will find out. They will make it a goal to find out.
I think I saw that something like 92% of DC voted for Harris, so if they voted they’ll probably be fired.
It’s a real fear, but they can’t outright fire most federal employees. It’s why they’re so into the schedule f thing, because it allows them to reclassify a ton of jobs as at-will appointment jobs and that would allow them to summarily terminate and replace those positions.
It’s why they’re planning so many other moves like arbitrary relocation (they say ok your agency is now gonna be based out of Iowa, you can move or quit) blocking and cutting funding so that hiring is impossible and people don’t get raises, can’t find projects, etc.
But based on the rhetoric I would agree that there are some very nasty things brewing, and being reclassified and then terminated for being a democrat isn’t a crazy outcome, which is bad.
I have read that at first they’re gonna tread lightly, because if you outright destroy major agencies it causes huge visible blowback. So it may be slow at first. But on the other hand, it’s pretty clear after this election that no one cares about what people want, and they may be assuming that there won’t be more elections that they can’t fake so they don’t have to worry about people being pissed off after they get rid of all the agencies that work to keep things functional.
It will be a slow death by thousand cuts situation. That way even after bad shit has happened his supporters can say “he hasn’t done x and x yet, so clearly you have been exaggerating”
Technically, it gives me more options financially to leave right now. I didn’t expect retirement to be in the cards to begin with, fully expect that fund to be slashed and drained under trump anyway.

Government doesn’t work! Let me show you by gutting its employees.
Some federal employees are considering leaving their jobs or relocating due to fears of job instability and moral conflicts with potential policy shifts.
Fantastic. The fewer federal parasites, the better.
When you say “the government barely works” this kind of shit is why. You can’t have less taxes, less federal workers, and a better more capable government. This is why the GOP isn’t good for the economy in the long run. They do what most shitty ceo’s do. Cut costs, cut jobs, demand more work for less money, and ruin the long term prospects of the govt at large. Doesn’t matter to them though, they can point at marginally lower costs for that fiscal quarter and idiots clap for them.
Oh no. I mean completely abolish the federal government. No federal government at all. Zero. Not a zilch. The federal government is too many steps removed from the people and does not give a shit. At least if we had only the 50 state governments, they would be closer to the people and have to care more about what the people thought.
Cool, then the more liberal states can leave the Republican states to rot.
Exactly. Then the states would have the freedom to enforce the rules they wanted to within their borders. And people would have the ability to choose what rules they wanted to live under.
