And there’s no smell untill it’s in your mouth, meaning that it comes as a total surprise!
Is that so? What about a micro-g environment causes the smell to move differently?
It doesn’t move. Normally, warm air rises from the chicken wings, carrying the smell up into your nose. In microgravity, the smell can only drift along currents. If you’re not holding it “upwind”, you won’t smell it.
There are some funny stories of astronauts moving through the ISS and suddenly hitting a pocket of fart.
