That’s precisely why they’re pumping money into AI research. At this point mind uploading seems inevitable, but not necessarily in our lifetimes.
I think that’s a long way to go before that’s a possibility. The main issue been the question if how we scan a brain.

And they don’t want to wait the time it will take humans to figure that out.
