The phrase “Shut your pie-hole” has taken on a whole new meaning for me.
Pumpkin pie or bust
I know a lot of people are complaining about the accuracy of… basically everything about this map.
But what really bothers me is that I feel with every fiber of my being like Pumpkin Pie and Key Lime Pie shouldn’t be in the same category as each other. They’re just not the same kind of experience. Regardless of who eats them when.
No pumpkin, no peace.
…not even pecan?..
We can have two pies. We’re the fat people country.
…huzzah! truth at last!..
I mean, ok, but I’ve lived in North Carolina all my life and never even heard of buttermilk pie. Pecan pie is good but pumpkin reigns Supreme.
For each of the 4 states Ive lived in, they list a pie no one I know has tried…
This map is only what pie was “uniquely searched” in that state. Only tangentially related to the title.
This has gotta be bait
deleted by creator
It is from a real huffpost “article” that I found, but yeah, it’s basically rage bait.
Yeah no hate on you OP :)
I figured it was either by someone outside the US or someone who just thought it was good conversation anyways.
WTF Is buttermilk pie? Lived in the south for a long time and never heard of it.
Same. I love that there are so many different kinds of pies. But I still want the pican pie from who’s recipe is on the karo syrup bottle.
As an English person, man peanut butter pie sounds good!
Do British people have access to peanut butter? I thought y’all ate hazelnut paste
We have it! We’re not advanced enough to put it in a pie though. We must lack the technology for it
Fascinating! Thank you for sharing. Is peanut butter a common item for the British? Do y’all eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Sorry if this is a silly question, I genuinely want to know more! Did you know you can make Peanut butter cookies?!
Yeah, my missus always has some in the cupboard to snack on. I’m not really sure what people do with it apart from sandwiches though - never heard of anyone combining it with, er, jam on our side of the moat either.
It’s good on crackers, celery, in milkshakes, probably good as-is on all kinds of baked breads, and can be used in various soups or curries. Sometimes I treat myself to a giant spoonful of it while I read, and I just slowly lick and nibble it and savor the flavor.
Not all peanut butters are created equal.
My mum has passed down to me the beauty of a banana and peanut butter sandwich, ive tried with Jam a couple times but only because of all the noise about it from the states!
You should try a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich
We do have peanut butter! It’s not nearly as popular though, eg if you have toast you’ll probably have just butter, marmite, jam/marmalade or honey. We don’t generally eat pbj sandwiches although it does happen. You can get peanut butter cookies but not many varieties and tragically we don’t have Peanut butter M&Ms
tragically we don’t have Peanut butter M&Ms
that is a tragedy. Reese pieces aren’t as good as PB M&Ms.
WTF is a Grape Pie?
Sincerely, someone who’s lived in Arizona for 24 years.
Could you please ask your neighbors which one of them is furiously Google searching “grape pie”?
Common Ohio L
Nevada: 😏
South Dakota and Minnesota: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The lack of talk about shoofly pie really saddens me since its the best pie
agreed
though, my family in PA never makes them for Thanksgiving. I may request to help make one this yearI haven’t had it since I was a child, but even then I remember it being sickeningly sweet. Like diabetes in pie form.
what is it
Shoofly pie is a type of American pie made with molasses associated with Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine.
We went to an Amish community festival a long time ago and that’s where I had my first bite. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever had and it was unforgettable!
I been reading it as “shooflee”, Wikipedia suggests it’s pronounced “shoo-fly” 🤦🏻
Yes, it is the best pie! 🥧 Nice to meet you, lilith267. You are now my bestie.
I am honored to be friends with THE shoofly :D
Chocolate pie is a custard pie. fite me.
I’ve been in Indiana for an AWFULLY long time to have never seen a Peanut Butter Pie at all, let alone at Thanksgiving. Pumpkin, Apple, Sweet Potato, and maybe Pecan, Cherry or even Peach pies, sure, but I’m not entirely convinced that half the other stuff on this map even exists.
"Uniquely searched pies*
… even then, I have strong doubts about the prevalence of various “pie searches” on this map, and the criteria of “unique” doesn’t fit when multiple states have the same results.
Pumpkin, chocolate pudding, sugar cream, blackberry, cherry, apple, peach, key lime, pecan, sweet potato, oreo, lemon merengue, strawberry, rhubarb. All more likely than peanut butter here.
I’m from ohio and have never heard of butterscotch pie. That said, arizona is onto something
Aww yeaaah Oregon sitting over here on the ONLY pie I can actually make. Mmm mm.
(Didn’t know it was that popular of a dish. Damn good, even if seriously ugly.)
