I had an old friend of mine with a problem with his old cottage. The interior walls had been changed so often that it had weakened the exterior walls that were beginning to buckle out from the weight of the roof.

I suggested we build some flying buttresses to support the building … then I had to take several minutes to explain to him about gothic architecture.
