I do not think it was in the book, rereading the book again (2nd time), because of the series’ changes, or the 1990 Mini-Series (my opinion best visual expression of ‘It’) & much later 2-movies (I disliked both, but keep giving them a try to impress me & they fail).
I liked the series a lot, even with gory bloody scenes (I hate those type of visual entertainment & never scares me, just grosses me out) & main, Kid, character dying, until the following changes that make no sense.
I hate it.

Plus, I cannot see how ‘It’ can ever be defeated with that huge advantage.
No other character in the series is in Past-Present-Future at exactly the same time.
The Indigenous nation’s idea of using the pieces, of the spaceship-prison, to cage ‘It’ could never work. ‘It’ was only in the cage after the cage was created-when the stupid military General (correct me if I wrong about the character’s rank) freed it, when everyone else exists only in the present. ‘It’ existed when it was not built & after he was freed from the cage, at the very same time, “he was supposed to be caged”, thus ‘It’ was never caged & can never be caged.
Continuing with The Indigenous nation’s idea of using the pieces, of the spaceship-prison, to cage ‘It’, it makes no sense to the script’s/cannot be changed part about all expressions of the story of ‘It’ history, thus is another hugely stupid mistake. Simply, if the cage has existed for centuries before even 1908 (or someone wants to say just 50-years earlier/1858), then how the heck does, in every 27-years, ‘It’ escape? Again, If the answer is he exists in Past-Present-Future, then referencing the previous paragraph, the cage would never work.
Kill the kids when they are being born & feed on the fears of not threatening kids, until next set of threat kids are born, kill them & repeat to end of time. Some would say, the kids that threaten ‘It’ could be born & grow older while ‘It’ is in one or more of the times of 27-years of Hibernation. Remember with the super power of either existing at the same time in Or travels within Past-Present-Future, ‘It’ simply moves to the time when each set of threatening kids are born & takes them-out.
*- The Military General (again, correct me if I wrong about the character’s rank) reasoning to free ‘It’ & actually having it done, is just too unbelievably STUPID to accept. Forget that he also has to convince far too many military personnel below his rank to do it. He would just not be able lie most of the participating people into it. People would figure it out, especially, when destroying one of the pieces & the scientist. Maybe, there are a few certified crazies, but not the rest.
Now, the makers of this series should have simply-
Never had given ‘It’ the possibility to exist in the Past-Present-Future, at the same time or just as like a time traveler
&
Used military construction (maybe, building a underground <like a nuclear missiles [SP?]> facility) accidentally (**not believing the Indigenous Nation people’s telling them not to stealing there land to do it) setting ‘It’ free. Easily Believable, because it happened in IRW USA, many times.

Organized FB fan, since old enough to understand it from father-2020/Covid 19 & Covid variants boycotting Organized FB (& rest of the sports), but still from old enough to understand from father-death fan of only the sport of FB (& rest of the sports) fan, So, I have tried & played a ton different USA FB Video-Internet games, most trying to find an equal to FPS: FBP series (never until earlier this year played any game online) after it was shutdown (was there with first day sold & played others before it), almost 30-years later never have.*

3rd. flag FB, at IM university Sports, as working at local big university (& previously the local college) &
4th. as “STUDENTS’ “ Sports Radio Host/Sports Game Producer. Two-separate attempts in sports world, after as a player I was not worth a good enough to fight career ending injury, went all in as a coach/like my family serious ESE facilitator of minds I did not have confidently people skills strong that was required. So, then as a sports radio host I could not take being censored, because I would not stop criticizing the ripping off students for money to create future university cash cow-when I saw no career, because I would not follow the line of protecting the professional money maker, which were my favorite teams.
From that I can confidently tell you-
*-The Best USA FootBall Video/PC/Internet game ever made is Front Page Sports: FootBall Pro ‘98 (this summary of what really happened to me earlier this year is what I afraid might happen to my love of ‘It’), because it simulates IRW FB the best through it’s thinking person’s game features (especially STILL NEVER EQUALLED plays creation-editing & TOP OF THE LINE game profiles features to the point that computer control can control your team’s next game, the way you want it to go), I could not play any more when the game got too old for the PCs & I was then still trying to make two separate attempts in sports world, as a coach & then as a sports radio host (before Internet boardcasting). 5th. After done with those careers attempts & to earlier this year I was helped by a online FBP ‘98 league’s (only handful left) commissioner to get the game working on my (then malware free) LT. Since he did that for me (you would think he saved my FB life, it appeared that way), I agreed to join for at least a season, as stated payback, the small NCAA league (they had just started the previous season & already had a NFL league running, non-stop & 2-seasons a year, since 1998), but by far most popular two-leagues. Game’s age affecting what that all features could not be done through online playing & as I went along the conservativeness-serious restrictions only got worse, though I was good to my word. Since almost all the people have been playing from the beginning & non-stop, they did ”the research” to figure-out the “fairest” performance numbers limits for the players’ per year & position & what should be allowed in Plays/Game Plans/Profiles- what makes FBP series & ‘98 version the best ever & only reason I wanted to play it, after being long out of date, surely not the graphics. They claimed it, at first I trusted them, because the rules for these restrictions were like the bible in nearly all are impossible to make right & the so equally un-believable, foreign, complex, length & big time biased for offense- I played & always loved Defense more than Offense, only played/PWFBL starred-PWFBL coached at DE position-DL positional group (STEREOTYPED <Vegan & genetically thin & performance enhancement drugs free body & already had teaching degree & certifications, from the best> INTO High School OL - MOSTLY TE Ass. Coaching, always wanted back to at least DEs). BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY NEVER DOCUMENTED TO PROVE/HAD PROOF OF THEIR RESEARCH/CLAIMS THAT THE GAME HAD TO BE RADICALLY CHANGED BY THEM. THUS I NEVER COULD BELIEVE THEM. When got caught-up & commissioner claiming he agrees with some of my complaints on it all & super slowly enacted (in offseason; I joined in middle of season a average at best team) changes to players restrictions, dragging the rest there.
I HAD REALIZED THAT THE WAY THEY PLAYED FPS:FBP ‘98 (DOES NOT EVEN MATTER, IF WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS TRUE, IT WAS LEAGUES’ REALITY, FOR YEARS & YEARS) SLIGHTLY CHANGED MY VIEW OF THE GAME! EVEN NOW, JUST KNOWING IT IS POSSIBLY TRUE, THE GAME IS SMALLEST DEGREE NOT AS GOOD! THAT REASON I AM TRYING TO GET WHAT THE GAME SHOULD ALWAYS BE & A SET OF ONLINE ASSOCIATIONS OF MY OWN UP & WORKING ON MY NEW AWESOME (THOUGH TABLET SIZED SCREEN) FRAMEWORK 12 LT!

…THE ORIGINAL STORY/BOOK MADE LAW OF YEARS ‘IT’ HIBERNATION & THEIR PRISON SHIP FRAGMENTS CAGE/FOREST ADDITION TO THE STORY FALLS APART, WITH THEIR ‘IT’ EXISTING IN THE PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE, ALL AT ONCE. ‘IT’ CANNOT BE HIBERNATING, BECAUSE TIME DOES NOT APPLY TO ‘IT’, MAYBE/ARGUABLY TO THE REST OF CHARACTERS ‘IT’ HIBERNATES. ‘IT’ CAN ALWAYS ESCAPE, BEING IN THE TIME, WHERE CAGE NEVER EXISTED/YET TO EXIST. THUS, QUESTION- WHY, DOES NO ONE UNTIL THEN (THERE AT LIFES’ DAWN, LET ALONE OUR) KNOW THIS? I MEAN, ALL THE MADE-UP BELIEFS, OUR SPECIES HAS DONE OVER OUR EXISTENCE & NO ONE SUSPECTS & APPLIES THIS TO ‘IT’.
PS: Continuing with FBP ‘98 online league experience-
Then the horrible playoff system cheated my team into lower playoff position & thus played the best team, & cheated for the team I beat just two-weeks prior (in only matchup & we had same exact records) into a higher playoff position & easier opponent. My team barely lost, by missing EASY FG <happens too often in games, fact that I had not noticed before> on last drive, the cheated for team barely beat the easier opponent! While I had become used to this sort of thing, I was ready to quit right then & there, but instead said I would quit after the new/High School grads players acquisition period. During early parts of the new/High School grads players acquisition period the commissioner did something that was not against the rules, but disliked, for his team’s huge benefit & afterwards asked if the rest of league wanted to change the rules to prevent it, everyone (including I, understanding sports leagues apply new rules in following seasons at the earliest) voted to do it, but when I tried to do exactly that same thing he did, he told me to stop or be punished. I told him he did it & rule changes apply in next new/High School grads players acquisition period & he told me the rule did not. So I being cheated yet again did not stop & he suspended me & removed all the players, I signed. I quit then & there.
