A new low cost insulin is now available in the US without insurance.

    How exactly would I go about getting this? I’m currently on Lantus. I’m due for an endocrinologist appointment so I’ll probably ask then and share their answer.

      You would just ask your endo if you can switch. It might take a while for insurances to start covering it. Main benefit of switching will likely be a lower copay, but it’s the same active ingredient as what you’re already on (Insulin glargine, with the tiniest differences) so there likely won’t be a therapeutic benefit.

      Edit: Looks like this is the one announced a few months ago. $55 for 5 pens without insurance. Definitely a good price if insurance isn’t covering Lantus
