Not exactly the same, but in a similar vein, I stopped watching Doctor Who because it felt like everything was always end-of-the-universe. I liked Old Who where they just had to be clever (without the sonic screwdriver and Tardis saving the day) to solve the problem they were in, not save the galaxy all the time.
